SOMETHING TO SEE
In comparison to other recent temporary museum spaces, which are more about the spaces and less about looking at something, Barbara has a treasure trove of things to see.
A perfect example of the other type of museum pop-up is the BMW Guggenheim Lab. In its first New York incarnation, in 2011, what struck you was the absence of any visual elements beyond the museum, itself.
There is something disquieting about a museum with nothing for you to see, inside.
Barbara is the opposite. And, she appeals to a range of visitors: from those at the art world’s center—renowned artists, dealers, and museum directors—to those on its furthest periphery. For an example of the latter, please see the video, on this page, of the Con Edison employee.
